The project, which was an emergency replacement of a flood damaged bridge, is located in the town of Geyersville on Route 128. This route serves as an access to the Napa Valley wine country. The replacement bridge, which is 980’ long by 40’ wide, was originally designed as a 10 span precast, pre-tensioned box beam bridge, with a total of 12 girders per span.
NRV presented a new design the day after the bid opening that used 8’ wide double-tee girders (6 girders/span) that were pre-tensioned for their own dead load and then post-tensioned in two stages to carry the slab load and live loads. The construction time from the day of the bid to the official opening of the bridge was 4 months and 6 days.
